Hokieball is committed to giving high quality camps that maximizes the amount of exposure each player receives from our Hokieball staff. Although we have three distinct camps, each one focuses on the basic principals of giving each player the best experience they can possibly have while being in a highly competitive fun atmosphere.
Hokie Prospect Camp
Hokie Prospect Camp is a two-part camp in which a player can participate in one or both parts of the camp.
Part I is a Hitting Camp held on Friday night. Each player will be filmed during a BP session, their swing will then be analyzed by a Hokieball coach during a group break out session. Each player will also be taken through Hokieball drills, a hitting lecture, and finally a second BP session on English Field to rap up the night.
Part II is the Prospect Camp. On Saturday, each player will be participating in a pro style workout comprised of the 60-yard dash, and arm grades from their position (and arm grades will be given based on their position). After the pro style workout, each player will be assigned a team (given at registration) and will go into the games and instruction portion of the day. Hokieball does not provide lunch but we designate a time for each player to leave and get lunch (two-way or two-team players may not have a lunch period (because) they will be playing in multiple games). On Sunday, Head Coach Pete Hughes will kick off the day by talking about the recruiting process. The players will then break out into the games and instruction portion of camp after the talk, while Coach Hughes sits and speaks with the parents about any questions they may have. Camp will end approximately around 3 p.m. After the camp, each player will be mailed out a personal evaluation form from the weekend.
Hokie One Day Prospect Camp:
Players will go through a pro-style workout, live batting practice and instruction on English Field. Pitchers will throw a light bullpen and receive top instruction from our staff. All participants will be exposed to our entire HokieBall staff.
Two-Team Player: A two-team player is a position player that wants to play on two teams, doubling his game exposure (double AB’s and double innings in field).
Two-Way Player: A two-way player is a camper that is a pitcher and position player that wants to receive maximum exposure at both positions. Also, a two-way player can be a position player that wants to play on two different teams during the games session to receive double the exposure.
